Houston is the fourth most populous city and most ethnically diverse metropolitan area in the United States. Two main airports, Bush Intercontinental (IAH, 25 miles from Rice) and Hobby (HOU, 15 miles from Rice) provide direct flights to a large number of domestic and international locations. Rice University is accessible by taxi, shuttle, bus, and Uber or Lyft from either airport.
Houston is well recognized for its petrochemical industry (3,700 energy-related firms), life science and biotechnology with the largest medical complex in the nation, and advanced manufacturing. Houston weather in June is typically sunny, warm, and humid.
